Staircase Lighting

Trepp_Saaremaa

Staircase lighting can be subtle, functional, or both at the same time. Stairs are often the main focal point of a home, and illuminating them can highlight this, guiding the eye from one space to another.

There is no single correct way to light a staircase. It largely depends on the design, construction, and the desired appearance. However, there are some basic principles that can help you choose the right lighting for your stairs.

If you plan to integrate the staircase lighting into the wall, it should be carefully planned before the wall’s final finishing.

When installing light sources, it is essential to consult with the designer from the company that is manufacturing the staircase.

If you plan to attach lighting as LED strips to the stair treads, you should clearly consider how this lighting will be powered and operated later on.

If you plan to attach lighting as LED strips to the stair treads, you should clearly think through how this lighting will operate later on.

Do you want to control it with a remote, two-way switches, or motion sensors? Based on this, the required power supply and wiring layout should be designed. When planning this, do not forget to consider where the LED lighting transformer will be placed. The transformer should be located in a place where it can get proper ventilation and be easily accessible if needed. Therefore, it cannot be hidden inside the wall together with the wiring.

We have installed the transformer under the first step—out of sight. In that case, there should also be a power outlet available nearby.
